Colorado meets Oklahoma

  • 5 of 5

Every year my family located through-out Oklahoma and Colorado meet at Bending Waters for the 4th of July. It is such a wonderful bonding experience for all, that it was observed that the younger generation now coming up, think the 4th of July IS Bending waters….While the rest (aka older) of us have a more diverse 4th of July memory bank, none can recall one enjoyed as much as those spent at Bending Waters.

Thanks Ken for keeping the property in such great shape that it is a respite for all who visit, regardless of age!

Where Eagles Fly…

  • 5 of 5

We didn’t ever want to leave! We were captivated by the stunning, colorful Autumn view from every over-sized window. This spacious home is literally built high in the trees — where eagles fly. We were astounded when a pair of American bald eagles landed just outside the bedroom window. Unique design features of the home, include: spacious, professional kitchen, enormous windows, gorgeous custom cabinets throughout, custom shower (amazing!), three family areas, large dining room, palatial master suite, and romantic double-sided fireplace. We enjoyed plenty of room for everyone. Favorite memory for the kids: hiking down the cliff to the river where they learned to skip rocks. Favorite memory for the adults: peace and quiet. Best vaca — EVER! Thank you for an unforgettable Thanksgiving holiday.

Wonderful stay at Bending Waters

  • 5 of 5

The Bending Waters property is absolutely breathtaking! The views of the Illinois river are exceptional, waking up every morning to a variety of beautiful birds (including hummingbirds and redheaded woodpeckers) and trout swimming in the river was very peaceful and relaxing. The interior of the home was spacious, well appointed and clean. There is lots to do in the area…I highly recommended Bending Waters if you’re looking for a relaxing vacation.

Great place to relax and enjoy nature

  • 5 of 5

5 Stars! Wonderful setting with a beautiful home. Ken was great to work with and the house was perfect for our gathering. We found the house in excellent condition, nicely decorated and the furniture plentiful and comfortable. Ken provided a local contact, although we did not have a need, it was nice to know someone was close by if we needed anything. Having two bedrooms on the main floor was perfect for our guests that don’t do stairs well. The verity of gathering places made it easy to find time away or bring everyone together. The Kayaks are a bargain and strongly recommended for every group. As stated the house does not have Wifi. I brought a portable hotspot in case we really needed it … but we didn’t. Great way to keep the kids on a technology break and enjoying the great outdoors for a change. My family uses a variety of phone providers. Most had great reception, those with AT&T did not always have service but you could move around and pick it up if needed. The weather forecast is really for Tahlequah and we found that it may or may not match the weather at the house. We had storms in the forecast that that never made it to the river. So don’t let that influence your kayaking decisions. The river is perfect for beginners or children with adult supervision to learn how to manipulate and balance a kayak. The boat dock is very near by and provided a great place to watch others kayak as you cool off in the water. Since the river is also a great place to fish, I would recommend river shoes for anyone swimming or wading in the river or near the boat ramp. We used the grill on the deck to for most of the cooking and found everything we needed in the house. Although we had a full house, we never felt cramped, the AC was able to keep up easily and there was plenty of room for everyone. We found some of the trees perfect for hanging hammocks and let the kids sleep outside. On our last night we built a fire in the fire pit and enjoyed s’mores. There is a bench near the fire pit, but we also brought lots of chairs. I would recommend this location for any family, large or small.
